Message: I'm not sure writing a well known piece of music is a good indication of how good a guitarist someone is. I don't think anyone is claiming Guthrie is a great songwriter, but he sure as heck can play! Though I don't personally like his music that much, I can still appreciated good musicianship when I see it, and I think Guthrie has a much more melodic approach than a lot of 'shred' guitarists.
